UNISON in Hertfordshire

We support staff working in schools, local authorities and carehomes in Hertfordshire.

This includes staff working for Hertfordshire County Council, as well as some of the local district and borough councils:  Broxbourne, Welwyn Hatfield & Hertsmere.

We support Hertfordshire workers in the community, voluntary and private sectors.

UNISON is the main national union for public sector workers, and represents around 1.3 million people. It negotiates on pay and working conditions at every level, local, regional and national.

Local stewards represent you at work and can help you find the answers to your problems. They are volunteers who play a vital role in recruiting new members and organising the branch.

If you have a problem, talk to your local steward. If they can’t handle the problem on their own, they can talk to other branch officers or full-time union workers on your behalf.

Anyone can face problems at work sometimes but if you are a member of UNISON, you don’t have to face them alone. We can provide advice or representation on issues such as pay, rotas, leave and sickness procedures. We also work to make the workplace healthy and safe, and support members in cases of disciplinary action, dismissals or redundancy.
