Retired Members

Welcome to Herts UNISON Retired Members page.

The section was started in 1996 as a social group. Over time a Christmas lunch was organised and a committee formed to organise trips to London Theatre shows (musicals).

Over the last 6/7 years the section has become ever more involved as a part of the Herts Unison Branch, becoming aware of and supporting branch activities as well as involved in regional and national retired members activities (retired members regional seminar and national retired members conference).

If members are interested in attending such events when information is posted please contact the branch office. It will be fantastic for more people to join in.

A Christmas lunch continues to be organised however due to Covid 19 restrictions we have been unable to hold this and with so much still uncertain there are no plans at the current time to do so this year. This will be kept under active consideration.

Our AGM, usually held May/June, which is also a social occasion, will be held once again as soon as safe to do so.

A member organises monthly 2-hour walks in various locations across the county ending in a pub lunch. There is an annual programme. If anyone wants to be involved please contact branch office.

Posted on this page will be information of relevance and interest  to retired members including: Unison HQ, Herts Unison, National Pensioners Convention, Age UK, Independent Age.

Further information on any of these organisations phone numbers/email address can be obtained from the branch office or committee members.

The committee will try to keep the information on this page up to date and out of date posts taken down promptly.

Any retired member interested in joining the committee and/or organising any social even for all members or your area please get in touch.

Hope this information is helpful and look forwards to meeting you at one of our events
